Heavy ion radiotherapy carries a uniform cost of about 3,000,000 yen ( about 4,000,000-5,000,000 yen for overseas patients who do not have Japanese Health insurance card ; depend on each facilities ), irrespective of the cancer site or the irradiation frequency. There are additional separate charges for scans, hospitalization, drugs, and so on. Patients from overseas who hope to receive heavy ion radiotherapy can obtain rough estimates of the therapy cost through their international medical coordinator.
